While interviewing creative job candidates, a co-worker of mine would always ask them, “If you had to start a themed Instagram account today, what would it be about?” My idea was a collection of the most eye-catching doors in Dallas. But it was always just an idea. I never had the time to really do it. During COVID quarantine, my husband and I would take our dog on daily walks around different Dallas neighborhoods to get out of the house. We’d jump in the car, park somewhere, start walking and every time I saw a cool door, I’d take a picture. Soon, my phone had over 50 photos of doors just sitting there. I finally created the Dallas Doorways account on Instagram and my following quickly jumped to over 300 fellow door-lovers. Now I post a door picture every day – it’s one of my favorite creative outlets.
